If you see text, recognition can done easily. Now Microsoft has announced such a tremendous service for the files that are uploaded in Microsoft SkyDrive (Free online storage to store your documents and files).

Microsoft has complement its “cloud” file storage SkyDrive feature optical image recognition. This is stated in a blog dedicated to SkyDrive.

SkyDrive will recognize the writing on the photos uploaded to the repository by the user and convert them into text. In the text it will be possible to search. For example, if a user uploaded to SkyDrive photo menu, which shows the name of the restaurant, he will be able to find a picture by typing the name into the search box.

Microsoft officials have promised that support for optical character recognition appears in the SkyDrive client for Windows and Windows Phone in the coming weeks. As for starters only the recognition of English, Portuguese, Spanish, German and French labels are possible, but we will see remarkable changes to the enhanced implementation of this service.

SkyDrive – is not the only service “cloud” storage, which uses optical character recognition technology. “Reads the characters from photos” and knows how to store file, just like “Disk Drive” owned by Google. New feature in the “Disk” in the spring of 2013.
